We are always busy! Lighthouse Senior Living at Hopkins Creek offers a wide range of activities for residents and their families. Below are some photos and videos from past events.
Each year the residents of Hopkins Creek welcome Labor Day Weekend with bushels of crabs and corn! Thanks to all the residents and family members who helped us pick away!
We host special birthday parties, like this one for Mr. Weaver:
Residents enjoyed music, food, friends and lots of laughter at a recent Saint Paddy’s day celebration.
We usher in summer each year with a Memorial Day Luncheon. Residents and staff dine on hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob and other classic barbecue favorites. We listen to some patriotic music and sing along to our favorite hits.
We always welcome family pets visiting our Lighthouse Community. We have Pets on Wheels who make their weekly visits and we have many family members who bring in their special pets to share with our community members. A pet can always bring a smile to our residents.
At a recent outdoor party, residents participated in our Pets on Wheels program, listened to the wonderful Middle River Band and enjoyed the beautiful summer weather.
We gather each spring for a Mother’s Day brunch to honor all of the Moms who have given so much over the years…
We also host an annual Father’s Day luncheon to honor and thank all of the Dads…
Our Annual Crab Feast is a delicious fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Friends and family come together each year to share the joy of the holiday season at Hopkins Creek.
Residents enjoyed a visit from the Middle River Fire Department. They brought their truck to our front door and helped us to raise our flag. Many thanks to these wonderful firemen who are always ready to keep the residents of Middle River safe from harm.
Our residents and staff enjoy close relationships. For example, at Lighthouse Hopkins Creek, there’s a wealth of mothering (and grandmothering and great-grandmothering) advice available to our staff. In the below video, residents offer parenting advice to our associate Holly, as she prepared for the birth of baby #3:
We also host seminars and workshops for caregivers, such as our “Understanding Dementia” workshop series presented by our in-house dementia specialist. Interacting with someone who is living with dementia can be frustrating, resulting in distress for the loved one and feelings of failure for the caregiver. There can be so many questions when acting as a caregiver. What does it feel like to live with dementia? Is it time to seek a supportive living environment? How do you know when it’s time for Assisted Living or Memory Care? Our workshop series is designed to provide caregivers with strategies for adapting to situations to create positive interactions.
To get ready for a recent Greater Baltimore Walk to End Alzheimer’s, we held a special event. An amazing group of artists came out to join us for Sip and Paint night on the eve of the Walk. Painters enjoyed their favorite wine while exploring their interpretation of our autumn artwork. All proceeds from the event benefited the Alzheimer’s Association.
